Why TripAdvisor sucks, yup, its really true “TripAdvisor Sucks” it’s bad for businesses and bad for travelers, and here’s why
TRIPADVISOR is full of advertising and marketing and annoying popups. It is also full of fake and hurtful reviews that can harm a business. It is extremely difficult to get a blatantly false or negative review removed.
It is a National business directory similar to YELP that does not care about local places or local people. It does not care about the things to do or the experiences people have. These directories are just designed to flood GOOGLE and get money from business owners.
Here are some recent posts from people about why TripAdvisor sucks;
Rick posts “I’ve contributed to TripAdvisor to counter a false negative review about a property I’ve been to and liked from someone who didn’t even know where the property they were reviewing was located. Although I’ve sent TripAdvisor several emails pointing out the mistake, they’ve never corrected the erroneous review
David posts “All I know is they are REALLY obnoxious with pop ups and always have been. Really annoying website”
Bets posts “NYTimes wrote that something like 50% of on-line reviews are fake, either positive for the business or negative against competition.
Lee posts “The Daily Mail in London wrote an article about the disturbing proof the online review that made you book your vacation, maybe FAKE. Also, the Daily Guardian wrote an article, Italy fines TripAdvisor €500,000 over false reviews”
Why TripAdvisor sucks is also because it contains bitter trolls and negative or false reviews. They are usually a breeding ground for bashing local businesses.
TripAdvisor is only built on asking tourists and visitors their opinion by pushing them to write a review. Asking a tourist for restaurant recommendations is like asking one for directions. It doesn’t really make sense. And that’s exactly what happens with TripAdvisor. For the basic reason that, in my experience, everywhere I have traveled and lived, locals rarely if ever use the site to review or research restaurants on their home turf. That’s because TripAdvisor is set up to receive and supply reviews from and to travelers.
It does not contain up to date information about local businesses AND events.
It does not contain actual video and live broadcasts from the venues.
It does not provide a regular newsletter and information about the things to do in our area.
