Summer rain here typically arrives in the afternoon, empties the sky for forty minutes and then clears. It is rarely a whole day lost, so the trick is having somewhere to be for an hour.

Somewhere to sit it out
The beach bars mostly have covered decks, so a downpour is an excuse rather than a problem. A tiki hut with a roof and a band is a decent way to lose an hour.
Actually indoors
The Gulf Beaches Historical Museum sits in the old church at Pass-a-Grille and covers how these islands went from fishing camps to resort strip. It is small, and it is free.
The galleries around Corey Avenue and the Suntan Art Center are the other reliable dry option.

Coffee and a long breakfast
Rain is the correct excuse for a second coffee. The Grove does surf shop and espresso in the same room, which is very much the local idiom.
